HiKi Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 22, 2026
HiKi is an expense splitting app that helps people create groups, add shared expenses, upload receipts, tag receipt items to group members, track balances, and settle up.
Information You Provide
HiKi may contain information that you choose to enter into the app, including:
- your display name and the names of people in your groups;
- phone numbers you enter when inviting people;
- group names, expense names, amounts, balances, and settlements;
- receipt photos that you choose from your photo library; and
- text, items, and prices detected from receipts.
How Information Is Used
HiKi uses this information to provide the app's core features: creating groups, splitting expenses, reading receipt items and prices, assigning items to members, sending invite messages, calculating balances, and showing settlement suggestions.
Receipt Photos and Text Recognition
HiKi asks for photo library permission only so you can select a receipt photo to split. The app reads receipt text from the selected image using the device text-recognition library. HiKi does not operate a server that receives or stores your receipt images.
Phone Invites
If you invite someone by phone number, HiKi opens your device's SMS or Messages app with a prepared invitation message. The message is sent by you through your device, carrier, or messaging service. HiKi does not send SMS messages on its own.
Data Storage and Sharing
The current version of HiKi stores expense, group, invite, and receipt information on your device during app use. HiKi does not sell your personal information. HiKi does not share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers.
Third-Party Services
HiKi uses platform and app-development libraries to run the app, request photo access, open the SMS composer, and read receipt text. These services may process information according to their own terms and privacy practices. HiKi does not include advertising, analytics, or third-party tracking in the current version.
Your Choices
- You can choose not to upload a receipt and enter expenses manually.
- You can deny photo library access in your device settings.
- You can edit or delete groups and expenses inside the app.
- You can choose not to send an SMS invite after the composer opens.
Children's Privacy
HiKi is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when HiKi's features or data practices change. The effective date above will be updated when the policy changes.
